Plainfield Red Store

Historic Plainfield is nestled among rolling hills and farmlands in the shadow of Spruce Mountain. The Plainfield Red Store is located on Route 2 about halfway between the Coburn covered bridge, to the West, and the Martin covered bridge, to the East.

The Red Store has been a center of activity and has had various names over the past 50 plus years. The locals always referred to it as just "The Red Store" because of its color. When the store was bought in June 2000, the "Plainfield Red Store" was used as the official name on the new business license. Now the legal name matches the historic name.

The Red Store today offers Citgo gasoline and automotive products, a large selection of groceries, including: beer/wine, cigarettes, milk, soda, paperback books, magazines, video rentals, pet food, Vermont pure maple products, ATM and more. It also has a deli providing fresh meats, cheeses, grinders, soups, hot breakfast sandwiches, fried chicken (wings, tenders and sandwiches) and hot coffee and cappuccino. There is a gift shop with a nice selection of gifts and cards for all occasions. The Red Store accepts EBT cards and major credit/debit cards.
