The Country Store, a Montpelier tradition since 1850, is a well-known gourmet deli and purveyor of specialty foods. The store offers the most expansive and complete wine selection in all of Central Vermont, as well as stocking a wide array of the famous handmade Lake Champlain Chocolates and locally roasted coffee from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
We produce lovely gift baskets using Vermont’s finest products, for the individual and corporate customer. New additions to the many product lines currently being offered include the acclaimed glassware and pottery of Simon Pearce of Quechee, Vermont, and Nicholas Mosse handmade Irish Spongeware imported from Ireland.

The Shouldice Family has owned and operated the establishment since 1976. You may find a member of the fourth generation stocking shelves or assisting customers at any given time. We use only the best - Boars Head Meats and Cheeses. We have daily lunch specials and make all of our own salads & pasta dishes.
We always have a wide variety of candy for just about anybody’s sweet tooth! Rock candy, malt balls, jelly beans, chocolate covered pretzels, gummy bears, tootsie rolls, and many, many more delightful treats for the young and old!
Just inside our store, you'll see our incredible gift lines. Each year "our family" carefully chooses what gift lines we would like to offer. Simon Pearce, Nicholas Mosse, Caspari, The Irish Candle Company, and paintings from local artists are definitely keepers!
