We are committed to our community and strive to make a difference in our world. Our goal is not just help the community, but become a part of it.
At The VG we support the idea's of alternative energy but do not want to use our food sources to create energy. Presently ethanol is added to gasoline, which is made from Corn and other crops. That drives up the cost of food. Blended ethanol gasoline is making it harder and harder for families to feed themselves and their children. So that is why we created ............
The Giving Gas Station Brand
For every gallon of gas you purchase at the VG, we will give a penny to the Vermont Foodbank (Check out the Link to The Right). That may not seem like a lot but riddle me this:
If you fill up your 2005 F150 once a week, that is 30 cents a week you donate.
If just 210 (30 a day) people fill up there vehicles tank a week (assuming an average 12 gallon tank), that means $25 a week will be donated to the Food Bank. Thats $1300 a year.
As of November 1st, we have raised over $1200.00 in just 4 months thanks to our wonderful customers who have committed to buying their gasoline and Diesel thru us.

Governor Peter Shumlin signed a proclamation on September 17 at the Dan & Whits Store in Norwich to declare September as Country Store Month here in Vermont. Representing the historic general store in the village of Norwich was Dan Fraser, Governor Shumlin and Charlie Wilson, chair of the Vermont Alliance of Independent Country Store.
