Where We Are...

We are located on Route 4 in Quechee, Vermont just minutes from Interstates 89 and 91and in the heart of the Upper Valley.

A Little About Us

Route 4 Country Store and Deli sits perfectly within the beautiful Quechee Gorge and Quechee Lakes area of Central Vermont. The history of the Route 4 Country Store can be traced back to the 1940’s when it began as an open-air market on The Fogg Family Farm. In 1974, the building was enclosed and it has undergone several changes and additions over the years.

We would say the most notable and recognizable change to our quintessential VT Country Store is our 60 foot covered porch.

The long covered porch is a favorite hang-out for locals and travelers from all over the world. You will always find folks enjoying one of our unique specialty offerings on the porch. Whether it is enjoying 1 of our 55 flavors of soft serve ice cream during the spring and summer or sipping a gourmet blend of coffee and snacking on one of our homemade chocolates on a fall afternoon, everyone agrees that our porch harkens back to the old fashioned Vermont Country Store experience where folks can slow-down, chat and just relax.

September is Country Store Month

Country Store proclamation

Governor Peter Shumlin signed a proclamation on September 17 at the Dan & Whits Store in Norwich to declare September as Country Store Month here in Vermont. Representing the historic general store in the village of Norwich was Dan Fraser, Governor Shumlin and Charlie Wilson, chair of the Vermont Alliance of Independent Country Store.
